Assalamu'alaykum,
As the sweltering hot sun and heavy cold rains greeting us, the final examinations are now approaching almost all of the university students here in Malaysia causes the nerves to wake them up all night long. Most of the students probably cannot really have a good sleep, thinking on how to score for the final papers that are awaiting them tantalizingly though the students hardly see the papers unless when the days come. Assignments submitted, notes copied, lecturers being visited by the students for consultation and life seems to be a little bit in chaos. Basically, everyone is extremely busy getting themselves armed and prepared for the wars that they are about to face.
The verse above-mentioned noticeably, to all appearances, telling us that we are literally engrossed with uncountable worldly pleasure(s). Allah has made it clear for us to understand without any hidden hardly interpreted words but explicitly indicated that our life, get distracted by the rivalry in this ephemeral world. Hence, answer is demanded as to clarify the verse which causes one to freeze and ponder upon.
We as human beings are too busy with things we do. We have assignments to be completed, presentation reports need to be submitted as well within a week, quizzes bombarding all over each day, car to be fuelled and so and so forth. Countless activities filling up our days that whenever people approach you and to have some discussion about Islam even for 1 minute, you refused to hear just because you are engaged with other things.
Allah, the Magnificent, is only asking you for two simple tasks; to prostrate yourselves towards Him and carry out good duties. That is just it. Good duties in the sense of flicking through the Qur'an and recite it wholeheartedly, have a look on those homeless beggars coming towards you asking for donation, carving smile on your face and more. Yet, you leave it behind as you have ambitions to chase after. In one Hadith, it says;
Often, very often when the examinations roll out the red carpet, we tend to allocate more times for the notes and books that we forget Allah swt which is the top priority above all. Indeed, exams are important in ensuring ourselves to be able to reach the next level for the academic purposes and education is obligatory in Islam. However, one should never forget that Allah is also important and should not be ignored. Arrange your time wisely for your studies as well as for Allah swt. When we love Allah and really want to meet Him, He will definitely love us, but if we hate to see Him, Allah also abhors to see us-God Forbid-.
Have some thoughts on it and sleep well. Free yourselves from cheating and never discussed once you finished answering the papers. (:
