A Mesmerizing Night With Shaykh Riad Ouarzazi

Salamu'alaykum,

"Verily this Qur'an doth guide to that which is most right (or stable), and giveth the glad tidings to the Believers who work deeds of righteousness, that they shall have a magnificent reward; "
- Surah Al-Israa', Ayat 9

Brothers and Sisters in Islam and in humanity, how are you guys doing? and how is life at your side?. Hopefully everything will be just fine, insha Allah.

As it has been told in my previous post that we are now IIUM students and I think most of the students from other universities as well, tied up with inevitable final exams. The library is crowded with lots of students carrying the books and almost all tables are occupied each and every single day.

Apart from that, I was really fortunate yesterday to have the opportunity to be with Shaykh Riad Ouarzazi who is currently touring around Kuala Lumpur for his Da'wah here. Brother Amar Razali, the person in charge of bringing Shaykh Riad here, offered me a ride to the programme with the Shaykh and I felt really aghast and overjoyed. May Allah have mercy on your soul, Akhi Amar,Amiin. I asked Brother Shahrul to join us and he unhesitatingly agreed. We had our dinner together and Shaykh Riad is actually a good food-taster and he just loves to taste different types of cuisine.

Throughout our journey with him, he shared with us a lot of precious, worth one's weight in gold knowledge and we were certainly overwhelmed. He talked about how to gain 1 million hasanah by just moistening our mouth with Zikrullah -remembrance of Allah-, acceptable Ibadah, his hobbies and lots of stuffs. If one were about to ask my point of view about him, I would say without any weigh of tendentious and biased feelings that he is one type of Shaykh that the youth have been looking for. He is an easy-going person who does not really mind to discuss about the common issues that are fettering the youth with manners plus with his character that is so hilarious and at the same time heart-trembler. He also has qualification in Psychology and works as a life-coach, as what my Babah also does, hence he can easily manipulate the event wisely and turn it to be fascinating. Not to exaggerate, but insha Allah, he might just touch a lot of hearts throughout his journey here, by Allah's will. Note that I am not degrading other scholars, but everyone is unique in their own way and we just need to appreciate the distinctness.

I will end my commentary (?) with the 5 questions asked by Shaykh Riad last night during the 'Message to the Youth' programme.

  1. What is your purpose of being created in this world?
  2. Who are your friends ?
  3. Are you really proud of your religion?
  4. Are you obedience or unkind to your parents which is one of the gates to Jannah?
  5. Are you happy?, and if it is so, how did you find your happiness?
These are the questions he asked us to reflect upon once we got back home. Subhan Allah.

By the way, Shaykh Riad Ouarzazi is having his very first tour in Malaysia, specifically Kuala Lumpur city under Al-Maghrib institute which already established one month ago if I am not mistaken. He is also invited to deliver the Khutbah (Firday Sermon) in our university here, IIUM Gombak this Friday. Do spare some free time to attend his lectures and be totally mesmerized, insha Allah.

I have 3 papers this week and your prayers are highly appreciated in the eyes of Allah because once you pray for your Brothers and Sisters in Islam, you are also praying for yourself.

Barakallahufikum!
