A Crime Against Humanity

Assalamu'alaykum,

When I woke up this past morning, I checked my handphone and I was suprised to see a new text message came in and it was sent by my old friend, Syed Ahmad Syafiq Al-Jamalullail. I quickly read the message out indistinctively and he was saying how he is so sorry for not replying my messages last 3 days as his handphone was having some troubles and he is so happy to see my dream being brought into existence, a dream that we both shared when we were in the same school, sitting next to each other, talking about travelling around the world. Alhamdulillah.

As I thought that message would have enough amounts to bring cheer into my day, I got myself interjected with melancholy, a feeling that is easily dragged into myself, as soon as I read a very devastating news and pretty much emblazoning Muslim world in general and Arabs world in particular. A headline that you wish you would never read or glanced at but Allah knows best.

Hamza Al-Khateeb, 13-year old teenager, was literally mutilated and tortured to death by the Syrian security forces under the supervision of soon toppled despotic government, Bashar al-Assad. He was an innocent kind-hearted brave Muslim boy who lived like everyone else and wanted to bring this world at peace yet his dream was condenmed and he was held in the custody of Syrian security forces for almost a month which they claimed for retaining felicity in Syria.

The boy was attracted with the atmosphere that filled with disgruntlement of the indignation that have taken place for nearly 30 years and for once, their voice were heard. Hamza was not really inclined for the outrage of the Syrian people as he was too naive for that, but decided to just join the demonstration and walked calmly with his friends. That decision has caused a severe injuries to his body and distasteful feelings towards his family and people across the nations.

''Hamza's eyes were swollen and black and there were identical bullet wounds where he had apparently been shot through both arms, the bullets tearing a hole in his sides and lodging in his belly.'' - Al-Jazeera

Where have the values of humanity gone to that they boldly once did that diabolic violent torture onto a body of a young kid who supposed to have a long journey to face in the future undertakings and it was all halted by the insanity of the brutal security forces. The security forces has the right to protect the country parallel to the oath they pledged but that does not mean you can easily grab anyone on the street bring them into the prison and torture them to death. What could this young kid palpable to do to topple down your vulnerable government that you were so petrified and cut his private part for the sake of securing the country?, please we Muslims are better than this some insane acts.

I am not here to support or against the revolution that is creeping all over Syria, for I do not want to be categorized into any specific group as throughout my exprience as soon as they manage to do that, a bomb of defamation will be on my tail and ruin my decent intention.

I would never be silent for the despostism dictated upon human beings, be it Muslims, Christians, Buddhist or Hindus I definitely against this and will always try my besy to get them out of the misery and usually Do'a is an affective way after a practical encouragement. I am well aware of the differences of opinion amongst the respected Ulama' about the validity for Muslims to walk on the street expressing their resentment towards the injustice but please, no one shall ever commit that abominable crime on anybody.

I might be a bit outdated about this issue, but by Allah, I am so sad to see this kind of extreme tyranny exists in Muslim countries. I pray to Allah to give Syrian a freedom in accordance of Islamic code of life and let the Muslim Ummah rise once again.

"For that cause We decreed for the Children of Israel that whosoever killeth a human being for other than manslaughter or corruption in the earth, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind, and whoso saveth the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind. Our messengers came unto them of old with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), but afterwards lo! many of them became prodigals in the earth."
-Surah Al-Maidah, Ayat 32
